We support DSL's, DDSL's, those with years of experience and those just starting out in the Safeguarding and Child Protection role.
Being a DSL or DDSL can be a lonely job at times, there is a lot of pressure to make the right decisions all of the time, children, young people and their families rely on the professionals in these roles, to make the right decisions to keep their children and young people safe, even if that decision may not be what the parents wants, it can be challenging and difficult.
Supervision for staff working in the role of Safeguarding / Child Protection is extremely important and is not always best delivered by a line manager, no matter how supportive they may be, they will not always be or have an independent view.
Supervision must give the person the opportunity to discuss openly their concerns, worries or challenges in a way that allows them to feel heard and supported, in reaching what is the right decision for them and those they support.
Lakes Safeguarding offer an independent supervision service that supports each individual in a way that is calm, reassuring but also constructive and open, many people find having supervision from an independent provider more relaxing and informative.
Supervision sessions are very much set out to support each individual, some sessions may need to be weekly or fortnightly in the initial period, and become less frequent as the person grows and becomes more confident, some established professionals may only need supervision monthly or termly, others may only require a needs basis, to ask a question or clarify a point of legislation.
